Why should I buy a property in Gungahlin?

As all Gungahlin locals know, our little patch in the ACT’s north is a tempting mix of good infrastructure, affordable prices, quality homes and a fantastic lifestyle.

Popular with all home buyers and especially young families, Gungahlin’s population has exploded in recent years. According to Census data the population of Gungahlin was 47,000 in 2011 and today in 2020 it has nearly doubled in size to 85,000. According to ACT Government research, the population of the Gungahlin region is predicted to rise  even more to 110,000 residents within the next 10 years*. Not only is it the fastest growing region in the ACT, but one of the fastest growing regions in the country.

With land becoming harder to find and more expensive, building a house is fast becoming out of reach for many families (if it hasn’t already become out of reach). Alternatively, apartments represent terrific value and have some great benefits to consider:

Why should I buy an apartment?

  • Smaller spaces are easier to clean. Don’t spend your days off doing housework and gardening. Get outdoors and see all that the ACT and surrounds have to offer.
  • Million dollar views on a fraction of the budget. Gungahlin is surrounded by hills and mountains which make for some pretty spectacular sunsets and sunrises. High rise apartments feature private balconies just perfect for enjoying the view or just watching life going on in the streets below.
  • Your very own holiday resort at home. Apartment developments come with a range of amenities such as swimming pools, gyms and alfresco entertaining areas. All these are maintained by the body corporate so all you have to do is enjoy the convenience.
  • A vibrant community. Meet new friends amongst your fellow residents. The shared spaces and amenities are perfect for mingling with other residents, or retreat to the privacy of your apartment if you prefer.
  • Live closer to the action. Could you afford a house and land in the middle of the Gungahlin Town Centre? Not likely. Buy an apartment and be a short walk from everything you love to do. Shops, restaurants, light rail, recreational facilities are all just a short stroll away.
  • Feel safe and secure. Secure entrances, intercoms and buzzers are all things you might not necessarily have in stand alone houses. Apartments also have the benefit of neighbours living in close proximity if you require assistance.

Why should I buy in Gungahlin?

  • Low vacancy rate. Gungahlin has one of the lowest vacancy rates in the nation at 0.7%*. If you are looking to buy an investment property in Gungahlin you can do so with confidence.
  • High rental yield. Canberra tops the capital cities in terms of rental yield at 6.1%* over the past 12 months.
  • It’s in Canberra! Canberra is a progressive, innovative, world class city with an enviable lifestyle. Since 2011 the ACT’s population has grown by 11.4%*, mainly driven by the record growth of Gungahlin. New residents are moving to Canberra faster than ever before, attracted by the high standard of living, high quality jobs, healthcare and education services. It is a win/win for ACT investors at the moment with both rental yields and median house prices growing faster than the Sydney and Melbourne markets.

Whether you are looking to buy an apartment to live in or a property to rent out, Gungahlin is the perfect location. POD Projects Group are currently selling a selection of two and three bedroom apartments located right in the heart of the bustling Gungahlin Town Centre.

The Ruby Gungahlin development has recently been completed and these brand new apartments are now ready for you to move straight in. The Jade Gungahlin development is currently under construction and will be completed later this year.
